How to fix ‘Application Not Installed' Error On Your Phone Devices

It sound so irritating and disgusting when you are about installing an application on you device and you get a message like this "Application Not Installed". I was clueless on what to do because it was happening to me for the first time. But after some research , i was able to find a solution to this problem. Today We shall explore the common causes and possible solutions to this issue:

POSSIBLE CAUSES AND SOLUTIONS

There are several reasons why you are getting this error. Firstly , if you’re downloading android apps from an external source (outside Google playstore) , then you’re more likely to see this error. Another reason could be that the file is corrupt / poorly coded or comes with an Invalid Certificate. Here are the possible reasons :
1. Insufficient storage space: Your storage space may have filled up with no more space to accommodate new apps.
SOLUTION: Make sure to uninstall any apps you don’t use to free up space, also uninstall previous versions of the same app currently installed on your device.

2. The App Is Poorly Coded : Sometimes an app could come with poorly written codes by the developer. Such apps cannot be installed because of its unhealthy state.
SOLUTION: Avoid installing unsigned apks : most times downloading .apk apps outside playstore could be very risky. The could be corrupt or Unsigned apps and will definately not install.

3. Corrupted app or apk file: This is most common with apps downloaded from outside Google Play Store. The app is either corrupted or incompletely downloaded or copied as the case maybe.
SOLUTION: Double check the apk files you download and be sure they were completely copied or downloaded.

4. You Disabled Installation Of Apps From Unknown Sources: If you’re downloading apps from external sources (Outside Google Play) , then you MUST allow the installation of apps from unknown sources.
SOLUTION: Allow installation of applications from unknown sources. Go to Settings >> Security >> Allow installation of apps from unknown sources.
5. Incorrect app install location: Some apps are meant to be only installed on phone memory while some others can be installed on both phone memory and SD card. Trying do otherwise with the former can bring up this errors.
SOLUTION: Change app installation location to Automatic or Let system decide.

6. Installation on a mounted SD card: Maybe, your SD card is mounted on a laptop or elsewhere. Trying to install anything in this state will result in errors because the SD card is inaccessible.
SOLUTION: Make sure your SD card is not mounted or connected to a PC or elsewhere.

7. App Is Not Compatible With Your Android Version : Some apps are programmed to work on some specific android version. For instance , an app can work on Android 4.4KitKat but cannot work on Android 5.0 Lollipop.
SOLUTION: Download the App. compatible with your OS

OTHER POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS

  • Reboot the phone: In times like this, first thing to do is to reboot your device. Or just shut down, remove and reinsert your battery.
  • Contact the developer : you can contact the developer for installation guide.
  • Hard Reset : if after everything and you still cannot install apps , your best option maybe to perform a hardreset. (NOTE : Hardreset will wipe out all you Phone’s data. So you’re advised to backup your important files before doing this)For worst case scenarios, format your SD card – copy it’s contents somewhere else for backup and format. The last solution would be to totally wipe your device. Either by doing a factory reset under Settings or by doing a full wipe in recovery mode.
